Goals and
Philosophy
St. Christophers
is dedicated to the care and education of young children in a Christian environment
through the development of the whole child. The objective of the school is to
prepare children for the transition from home to elementary school. Each child
is encouraged to express himself or herself creatively through carefully planned
activities and experiences that give direction and meaning to relationships
with other children. Our curriculum is planned around the social, emotional,
physical and spiritual needs of the young child. Based on the premise that young
children learn best by doing, learning centers are designed so that the child
is provided with unlimited opportunities to explore and develop to maximum potential.
Large and small groups as well with individual activities are planned in the
areas of dramatic expression, story telling, arts, language development, Gods
wonderful world; science, math and reading readiness, music and rhythms, and
gross motor skills. Research has proven that low ratios along with a strong
well-rounded curriculum help children to excel as socially and mentally empowered
young learners. Ninety percent of the children who have attended St. Christopher’s
through kindergarten have gone on to be successful students in the Honors
Program or the Gifted and Talented Program in their schools.
