St. Christopher's & Houston Hospice

Forty Five Years and Well Over One Million Dollars Later

The Thrift Shop is a project of the Episcopal Church Women of St. Christopher's. It all began in 1961 with the leftovers from a rummage sale held on Saturday at the church. In 1999 Houston Hospice joined us to increase our efforts to help our community. We are staffed by an incredible group of dedicated volunteers who are proud to see our profits go back into the community to assist various charities.

The Thrift Shop provides community service to the Public and Private Schools as well as the Harris County Court Systems. We are very excited about our new High School Awards Program!

Donations of your serviceable clothing, household goods, toys and furniture are gladly accepted. All merchandise sold in our shop new and old come from donations. Generous individuals and companies are the lifeblood of our organization. We will be happy to give you a tax-deductible receipt for your kindness. If you have items too large to transport please let us know and we will be happy to send a truck to bring them in. Our inventory runs from the everyday to the extraordinary. Come and see if you can find that hidden treasure that you have been seeking. It might be hidden in the "Book Nook" or in one of the many aisles of merchandise just waiting to be discovered! The classical music will be playing and the ambiance of uptown is waiting for you.

The Thrift Shop is located on St. Christopher’s campus at 1650 Blalock 1.5 miles from I-10. Our hours are 10 A.M. until 3 P.M. on Tuesday thru Saturday. We can be reached at (713) 467-7743.

High School Awards Program

The Thrift Shop is sponsoring a community service awards program for high school students who need community service hours for merits of achievement, awards or certificates or resumes for college. In addition to offering credit for hours of service, the Thrift Shop awards students a letter of recognition and a certificate for 50 hours of community service; a letter of recognition and a pin for 75 hours of service; and a letter of recognition, a certificate, a pin and plaque for 100 hours of service.
